Why should you hire Creature Feature Pet Sitting?

That's a great question! Why should you hire us? For most people, deciding on who is going to take care of their beloved pets while they are away is a decision not easily made, and is not the same for everyone. We feel that our company can meet ALL your needs better than some other choices that may be out there.

Unlike kennels/pet resorts, or other pet sitters, we don't charge per pet! We understand that having a menagerie is a big responsibility (we should know, we've had many menageries of our own over the years!). You don't need every single pet to have a price tag and make you, once again, decide to not go on your trip. We also don't have a limit to how many pets we can care for, unlike kennels and other pet sitters. We can handle it, with enough time!

Unlike kennels, your pet will get as much special attention and love they can possibly handle, at no additional charge. Yes, kennels do charge for "out" time, personal attention, for your pet to be fed their own food, and to administer medications! With us, your pet will be comfy at home, with their own food. You never have to worry about their medication being given on time, administered correctly, and given to the right pet(s).

We also do not require that your pets be up to date on their vaccinations or to be licensed, like kennels and some pet sitters who board do. It doesn't matter to us, because your pet is in their own home, spending time with the same companions they always do.

Did you know that once your pet reaches "a certain age" that some kennels and some boarders won't take them? With us, you don't have to worry. We love senior animals and animals with special needs. It's not a liability for us, like it is for kennels. Does your kitty not liked to be picked up because of her bad hips? Is your doggie getting a little nippy because he's blind and doesn't know who's touching him? Not a problem. Having several of our own clan go through old age we know how to handle these situations and won't take it personally like some inexperienced pet sitters and kennel employees might.

Although we are not licensed animal nutritionists or health care providers, we do have vast knowledge of pet nutrition, health and wellbeing from our many years of experience in the animal community, research, and finding out what works with our pets and our clients' pets.

Due Diligence

We are true professionals. By that we mean that we do have proper insurance; designed for pet professionals. This policy includes a Special Property of Others addendum, which is equivalent to a bond. We are not bonded however. Why? Because we have no employees. Also, even if we wanted to we could not bond ourselves in the state of Arizona, because we have no employees. Keep in mind also, that if you use a pet sitting company who covers their employees with a bond, and there is a theft you will have to wait for a conviction in order for the bond to pay out. Depending on the case you'll wait months or even years for this conviction.

We also have an LLC business on file with the Arizona Corporate Commissioner's office. Keep in mind there is no such thing as a pet sitting license...anywhere in this country! If a sitter says they are licensed...ask them in what? It might be a license to be in business in their city. Maybe the sitter participated in a certification program from one of the national professional pet sitting organizations such as Pet Sit
ters International (PSI), or National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS), which is voluntary, and not a requirement of regular members. But it is not a pet sitting license, and should not be referred to as one. We have no license because the city of Mesa does not require one for our type of business.

Speaking of PSI or NAPPS, which are fine organizations, by the way. They are very helpful to pet sitters just starting out, for example. They offer marketing exposure, certification, conferences, and many other opportunities to keep a pet sitter abreast of on trend pet sitting business necessities. But again we stress; these are completely voluntary, and are not a requirement of regular membership. As a matter of fact all pet sitters can participate in these activities whether they are members or not. The only difference is the cost of participation. We are not members because we have had two pet sitting businesses in two different states since 1992. Most information that is covered by these organizations we have already covered!

Having stated all that, we want to emphasize to you no matter who use choose to be your pet sitter; you must do your due diligence. Just because a sitter claims to have all of the above, does not mean the sitter has it. It is easy for you to check out all the claims. We make it a little easier for you by providing a copy of our current insurance limitations. You can also easily check with our state's corporate commissioner to find out if we really are an authentic business. You can do this with any business. Also, if a sitter claims they are members of PSI or NAPPS...find out if this is so. Call them and ask. They will tell you.

Finally, realize that an authentic pet sitting business will have certain standards and policies and prices. We will all be similar in that, but some others will stand out as side businesses, or those just wanting to make a little extra spending money. These can be akin to hiring the neighbor kid to do your sitting for you, which is fine if that's what you want. But keep in mind that professional pet sitters are not in that category, and never will be.
